Abstract

Students’ learning during the pandemic situation was carried out through online learning. Many students are disengaged during online learning due to a lack of motivation, problems with internet connection, and a lack of understanding of the material due to monotonous learning activities. After the pandemic, offline learning resumed as the preferred mode for educational activities. To accomplish learning goals, it’s necessary to determine the state of student engagement. This researcher aims to know how students engage in English language teaching during a postpandemic situation. This study used a descriptive case study as a research design. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews and observations and analyzed using thematic analysis to determine students’ engagement. The findings of this study indicate students engaged behaviorally. For instance, students showed effort and contribution in class discussion; cognitively, for instance, students showed selfregulation and comprehended the knowledge; and emotionally, for instance, students felt enthusiasm, confidence, and enjoyment in English language learning during a post-pandemic situation. Keywords: Student’s engagement, English language learning, post pandemic
