Abstract

The presence of digital technology in EFL learning can expand learning excellence and encourage students' development in using new methods and strategies in learning English. Many non-English major students learn to read English texts to improve reading comprehension through online reading media, including the Zlibrary platform. This research investigates a non-English major student's perception of using Z-library to learn English reading comprehension. In collecting data, this research conducted semi-structured interviews with a non-English major student in one of the departments at a university in Tasikmalaya, West Java, Indonesia. The data were analysed using thematic analysis for pattern identification, analysis, and reporting (Braun & Clarke, 2006). The findings of this study found that there were five positive perceptions of using Z-library in learning English reading comprehension, such as (1) multiplicity books, (2) learning media, (3) accessible websites, (4) good impression, and (5) increasing insight. Meanwhile, this research also found negative perceptions of using Z-library in learning English reading comprehension, such as (1) poor quality, and (2) technical problems. Therefore, this research can be a recommendation for improving learning English reading comprehension through Z-library, especially for non-English major students. Keywords: Learning to Read, Perception, Z-library
