Abstract
This research aims to observe and describe the integration of audiobooks in teaching listening skills to EFL Junior High School students. The method used in this research was classroom research. The participants were a classroom of 7thgrade students at SMPN 4 Tasikmalaya. The data was collected using classroom observation with an observational checklist and video recording. Further, the data was analysed using the flow analysis design by Miles et al. (2014). The result showed the integration of audiobooks in the classroom using extensive listening through the three teaching phases: (1) Pre-Listening, the teacher and students prepare the listening activity by asking triggering questions to activate students’ prior knowledge; (2) While-Listening; the teacher implements extensive listening skill through the repetition of the audiobook and asked students to predict and understand what they have listened, (3) Post-Listening; teacher gave some questions or evaluated students regarding the audiobook topic and encouraged them through feedback and correction. Based on the result, it can be concluded that implementing audiobooks within the strategy of extensive listening helps in students’ listening comprehension. Additionally, employing macro and micro skills in the three teaching phases supports the plan for teaching listening comprehension and facilitates the students’ language acquisition.
