Abstract

In the learning process in the English education department at one of the universities in Tasikmalaya there is an activity known as Academic Oral Presentation (AOP), where students in groups will explain topics related to the learning material in class to share with other students. Some students have good AOP abilities and one of the reasons is because they apply learning strategies in AOP. This research aims to examine the strategies used by students in AOP. The research method used in this research is a descriptive case study. The participants were three students from the English Language Education Department at a university in Tasikmalaya. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews. Using the data analysis approach formulated by Miles et al. (2014). The results showed that students used strategies in AOP. Based on the results of data analysis, researchers found that students who used a combination of direct and indirect strategies in AOP in the Qualitative Research course in the ELT course showed a varied and adaptive approach according to the needs of each individual. Keywords: Learning strategies, Academic Oral Presentation (AOP), EFL class.
