Abstract

ABSTRACT RATIH NOVITASARI. 2020. “I Reflect, Therefore, I Grow”: An Indonesian Pre-Service Teacher’s Professional Development during International Teaching Practicum (ITP) in Thailand. English Education Department, Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teachers’ Training, Siliwangi University, Tasikmalaya. A numerous study has investigated the impact of reflective practice towards teachers’ professional development. The issue about international teaching practicum field which has significant impact towards teachers’ professional development also has been widely known among the researchers. Present study explores how reflective practice which conducted in international teaching practicum context shapes an English pre-service teacher’s professional development. Analyzing by Goodwin (2010) theory, this study presents how reflective practice could affect his personal knowledge, contextual knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, sociological knowledge and social knowledge during the ITP program. The data of this study was collected from the semi-structured interview and analyzed using narrative analysis. The finding showed that conducting reflective practice in international teaching practicum context is beneficial in improving his teaching practices and also raising awareness and building mutual respect towards culture and social diversity.
