Abstract

Creating subtitles for animation videos from Indonesian to English is quite challenging. This study aimed to explore challenges and solutions encountered by English Education students at a university in Tasikmalaya. This research used the case study method with interviews as a tool for collecting the data. Additionally, the researcher used thematic analysis to analyze the data from interviews of 3 participants. The findings showed that translating idiomatic expressions and slang, maintaining the authenticity of humor and social norms, and addressing regional accents, as the challenges in the process of creating the subtitles. Moreover, they also found that the solutions are mastering linguistic proficiency, cultural sensitivity, and technical expertise. Keywords: Subtitles making, Translating, Challenges and Solutions
