Abstract

This study aims to describe the challenges experienced by English teachers in the Vocational High School of Agriculture in the process of developing teaching materials for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and the solutions offered. The method of this research is narrative inquiry. Data were obtained through narrative frames and interviews with two teachers in Vocational High Schools majoring in agriculture in Tasikmalaya. Interview data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results of this study show three challenges experienced and three solutions offered by English teachers. The challenges are namely (1) Material Selection, (2) Material Adaptation, (3) Adjusting teaching methods. The solutions are namely (1) Need analysis, (2) Collaboration with the other teachers, (3) Searching relevant internet sources.
