Abstract

This study aims to determine the impact of gross regional domestic product, average years of schooling, open unemployment rate, and covid-19 on the poverty rate in six provinces of the Java island region, namely DKI Jakarta, Banten, D.I. Yogyakarta, West Java, Central Java, and East Java from 2012 to 2022, both partially and simultaneously. The data used in this study are secondary data sourced from the Provincial BPS and BPS Susenas. This study employs a quantitative method in the form of panel data, which is a combination of time-series data and cross-sectional data, by applying the panel data regression model. The data was processed using the EViews 12 application. The results of this study can be partially concluded that the gross regional domestic product has a positive but insignificant effect, the average length of schooling has a significant negative effect, while the open unemployment rate has a significant negative effect and covid-19 has a significant positive effect on poverty in Java Island during the period 2012 2022. Collectively, the gross regional domestic product, average length of schooling, open unemployment rate, and covid-19 have a significant effect on poverty in the Java Island region during the period 2012-2022.

Keywords: Poverty; gross regional domestic product; average length of schooling; open unemployment rate; and covid-19.
