Abstract

Technology utilization in language learning is used effectively to gain learning experience. One of the technologies used in learning is digital storytelling. Digital storytelling is one of the courses in a university in Indonesia. The digital storytelling course involves various activities to make assignments, one of which is the task of making digital storytelling videos. Therefore, this research aims to explore students' experiences in making digital storytelling videos in digital storytelling course assignments. The research method used a descriptive case study. The participants consisted of 3 students in the English education department, Tasikmalaya. The research data collection used semi-structured interviews. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The results showed that Students gained experience in making digital storytelling video assignments, including various stages in the procedures of making digital storytelling videos. They completed the entire process by discussing and collaborating in groups. Additionally, the experience of making digital storytelling videos provided students with benefits in increasing their knowledge and skills through various activities. The knowledge gained included vocabulary and technology knowledge, while the skills included listening, speaking, and writing. Students also experienced psychological benefits such as increased motivation, emotions, and self-development. Thus, students can consider this experience as a reference for digital storytelling courses. In addition, lecturers can also utilize this experience to improve digital storytelling learning strategies.
