Abstract
Using the Internet in English learning was crucial during the pandemic and even now. Without the Internet, online learning will not be implemented, and students cannot participate optimally in online learning. Therefore, the frequency of students’ internet use tends to be high because many applications or digital platforms are connected to the Internet. It raises students’ self-efficacy towards the Internet when carrying out a particular task. This study aims to determine EFL students’ internet self-efficacy in their English learning. Participants in this study consisted of three English students at a university in Tasikmalaya. The researcher used a descriptive case study as a research design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). Based on the result, the researcher found five main themes. They are: (1) learning enhancement through internet use, (2) internet usage experience, (3) online communication, (4) information verification, and (5) metacognitive awareness. The findings of this study indicate that students with internet self-efficacy can learn independently based on their interests, so learning is more effective. With internet access, students can use various applications or digital platforms to support the learning process, such as finding resources, learning a subject, discussing, improving skills, and solving learning problems. When accessing the Internet, they also set goals and think critically. In addition, they also use the Internet for other purposes, such as communicating and searching for information. Therefore, students agree that the Internet is helpful in English learning. As a result, students believe they can do many activities on the Internet well.
