Abstract

This study investigates students’ perception of writing fan fiction among those enrolled in the Creative Writing course, who have completed their fan fiction projects. The research utilized a qualitative case study method. The participants were three English Education students at a university in West Java, Indonesia. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews, and the data were analyzed using Braun and Clarke (2006) thematic analysis, which includes familiarization with the data, generating initial code, searching for themes, reviewing themes, defining and naming themes, and producing the report. As a finding, two themes emerged, namely (1) The Usefulness of Writing Fan Fiction, (2) The Challenges in Writing Fan Fiction. The contribution of this study is to provide readers with empirical insights into the impact of fanfiction projects on students' writing skills. Keywords: Students’ Perception, Fan Fiction Project, Writing Skills.
