Abstract

Motivation is very useful for students in learning, especially English, because it is an internal drive that can help them to achieve learning goals and achievements according to their wishes. English songs are one of the tools that can increase students' motivation in learning to listen in the classroom because they have inspirational lyrics, energetic rhythms, and words that are easy to understand and remember. This research aims to know how English songs motivate the students to learn listening skills in the classroom. This case study research involved 4 students as participants. Based on the results of the interview, it was found that (1) Interesting English Songs for Boosting Students’ Motivation, (2) English Songs Providing Effective Learning Material, (3) New Experiences in Learning, and (4) Simple but Meaningful Activity by using English Songs. In conclusion, English songs can motivate students to learn listening skills in the classroom. Keywords: Listening Skills, English Songs, Learning Motivation
