Abstract

This study focuses on the linguistic devices and the sections of commissive speech acts. Data, the utterances, are taken from the online media that report the candidates of regents and vice regents of Pangandaran Regency when they are in the process of regional general election. The commmissive theory of linguistic devices (Ilić&Radulović, 2015) and Commissive sections (Bilbow, 2002) become the foundation of analysing the data. The result show that the linguistic devices use by the candidates consist of explisit and implisit performatives. These indicate the extention of commisive acts that have realisation into the three section including initiations, lexico grammatical devices, and supportive moves. The use of those parts in the commissive acts are the efforts of the candidates to win the position as the first Pangandaran Regent in 2015. Keywords: linguistic devices, commissive speech acts, initiations, lexico grammatical devices, supportive moves
